(a) This contest is open to residents of the Michigan.
(b) Participants must be age 13 or over. If under 18, they must have the permission of a parent or guardian to enter, and have a parent or legal guardian present with them at the contest.
(c) Employees, consultants, agents and their respective families of Buy Michigan Now, American 1 Credit Union, and their affiliated entities are not eligible to participate in this contest.
(d) All participants must register online in advance, and be present at the Buy Michigan Now Fall Fest at the Jackson County Fairgrounds no later than 2p.m. on Sunday, October 29, 2017, and stay until the judging is complete.
(e) All costumes must have a demonstrable and positive connection to the state of Michigan. Examples may include, but are not limited to: local landmarks, products made or grown in the state, celebrities with local connections, prominent figures from Michigan history, costumes made entirely from products made in Michigan, etc.
(f) No purchase is necessary to enter this competition.
(a) By entering this contest, participants consent to allow Buy Michigan Now, American 1 Credit Union, and our event sponsors to use your name and likeness
(b) Contestants must provide a brief description in advance of how their costume relates to Michigan, but photos are not required in advance.
(c) All costumes must be family-friendly. Organizers reserve the right to refuse entry if a costume is deemed inappropriate for the audience.
(a) Judging will be conducted by the Contest Sponsors and/or their special guests.
(b) Judging will take place between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 29th.
(c) All entries will be scored on a scale of 1 to 100 and judged based on the following formula: 40% (40 points max) based on originality and creativity, 40% (40 points maximum) on the clarity and creativity of the connection to Michigan and 20% (20 points maximum) on the execution (creation of costume). The entries with the highest, second highest and third highest scores will win first, second and third place prizes. Judges’ decisions are final.
(a) A Grand Prize of $300 will be awarded to the judges’ top selection. Second and third place will also win prizes.
(b) All winners must be present to claim their prize.
(a) A minimum of ten valid entries must be submitted by October 15, 2017 in order for the contest to proceed. In the event enough valid entries have not been submitted by that date, organizers reserve the right to cancel the contest. Entrants will be notified of the cancelation via email. No awards or compensation of any kind will be given.
